I wanted to thank you all for your kind comments and support as I figure out this whole blogging world. I also wanted to let you know I won't be on a lot for the next week. My hubby graduated today and has another ceremony tomorrow a.m. Family is in town, we are packing our life into a Uhaul this Saturday -- you get the picture. Lots of fun, but not much blogging time. So, don't think I'm ignoring you -- I love and truly appreciate all your kind comments. I'll be excited to get back on and see what you've all been up to.

Shoe Clips GIVEAWAY ends April 24th

So a few weeks ago I had a slight outburst about the pains of being my own clothing model. Then last night I was looking back through my 2the9s picture folder and saw this pic.

I really like this pic. I like my "just pulled it back" hair. I like my natural smile. I like my bare feet. I like looking at it and trying to believe that I look like this most the time. Yeah, maybe those hours with the camera are worth it.

Sunday, Springtime Inspiration

I love Sundays. I love getting to take a break from work, errands, etc and focus on church, family, and friends. Today, my sweet Richard took me on a walk to see all the new Spring blossoms that showed up this past week. We found this adorable cottage-style house that I just loved.

I really love when a look is done just right and that is exactly how this house was. Just the right color, just the right lace curtains in the windows and just the right flowers, trees, etc.

In front of the house was my favorite springtime tree. I still don't know the name of this tree, but I adore how big, elegant and breathtaking the blossoms are. So here's to a little Sunday inspiration. Hope you found something to inspire you today.

I have been waiting to do this post until the news was "official", but its got to the point where waiting any longer just seems silly. My husband is graduating next week (whoot whoot!) and got an internship in Richland WA for the summer (the paper work is still processing -- hence the waiting). Which means 2the9s is officially relocating. Starting May 1st, I will be based out of my hometown, West Richland WA. What does this mean? It means my life is crazy right now:). Okay, seriously -- mostly it only makes things different for my local friends. If anyone in the Provo/Orem area (or Utah in general) wants to a custom order done on your own clothing items, please contact me by Monday to work out the details. Also, if anyone has been longing for one of my items in the Flower Basket Boutique, be sure to stop by and grab it up. I will be collecting all remaining items from them around April 27th. It really does feel crazy to be leaving Provo. I've lived the majority of the past nine years here -- first as a student myself then waiting for Richard to graduate. Wish us luck on starting our "grown-up" life!

A classic taupe brocade with a green and golden damask-type print, paired with a golden-toned sheer.

Since neon accents are so big this spring, I am dying to try this bright patterned silky fabric paired with a white sheer fabric. It could be such a great pop for an outfit!

Reminisce with me

I realized today that it is closing in on 2the9s six month anniversary. It was October 10, 2009 that I babysat my friend Sinda's booth at the local Farmers Market. I brought along my first shirt design: the Original One Bud in gray to feel out people's reaction to it. Six months later, I've had about fifty sales, done my first online advertisement, got my etsy shop up, and am jumping into the fabulous world of fashion blogging. Here are a few photos of the journey:

Well, April is starting off with a bang! I feel like a lot has happened for my little "shop" in a very short amount of time.

First off: A big Thank you to Elaine for contacting me about advertising on her amazing blog. The ad went up April 1st. Be sure to stop by clothedmuch to check it out. (Also, check out her review of my Elizabethan T and let me know what you think.)

My ad design was done by Elizabeth Conrad from the Irresistible Photography team. Elizabeth has done all my design work -- she has amazing talent and is wonderful to work with.
Thanks to both these talented women!

Next big news: 2the9s turquoise shoe clips have been asked to be a part of a big photo shoot in Southern California. I was incredibly flattered when Courtney of Joyful Weddings contacted me about using the clips. These clips are one of my favorite products. I use a stiff home decor taffeta along with a more flimsy drapery fabric to make them. I love how the contrast between the two fabrics gives such a great shape and texture to the clips. So, it was wonderful to have someone with such great style appreciate them. I will post more about the shoot as things progress.

I actually owe another thanks to Elaine and Elizabeth for opening my eyes a little more to what blogging can be. Now that my Etsy shop is up and running I am excited about my blog becoming a place where I can share a little more insight into who I am and why I create. I haven't gotten super personal on this blog, but I can't hold this in any longer: I hate being my own model. I really don't know how models pull all those amazing "I'm not trying" faces. My patient husband spends hours trying to capture each picture the way I want. Then I look at them all and its: I look drugged, I look confused, I look angry, yeah no good faces. Well, at least the clothes look amazing:).

With so many sunny days recently, I couldn't resist the chance to upgrade this great sunshine yellow vintage dress. The approaching holiday provided me with inspiration to create some great new designs. Hello Everyone!

Well the holiday season kept To the Nines hopping and there is lots to report:

First things first -- To the Nines has officially joined Etsy! You can find a link to 2the9sshop.etsy.com in the right hand column on this blog. I am hoping this will give out-of-state fans easier access to To the Nines merchandise. Getting my etsy shop up is still a work in progress; so, if there is something on the blog that you would like to have available on etsy, leave a comment, send me an e-mail or start a conversation with me on etsy and I will get it listed asap.

Another important update is that the Flower Basket has moved. It is now located at 45 N. University Ave, just up from Center Street. They will soon be having a grand opening celebration in honor of the move, so stop in or watch their blog for more information. I love working with the Flower Basket and frequently bring new items to their shop. I will be dropping off great "pretty in pink" designs this week -- just in time for a unique and beautiful Valentines Day!

Below is a picture of a recently completed custom order. The order was done with black ribbon on a black Gap brand shirt. I love doing custom orders because it gives me a chance to see how my designs work on a variety of items. It was nice to see that the One Bud worked just as well with a slight scoop neck as with a V-neck. I also like how the black on black effect turned out.

How to order with 2 the 9s

Hello and welcome to the To The Nines shop! Allow me to explain how things work here:

Finding What You Want
You will see on the right posts labeled "womens", "girls" and "boys". Under each section you will find pictures of my designs for each of these groups. Each set of pictures will be labeled at the top with a design name (i.e., "The Original One Bud"). Enjoy browsing through the items and remember to note the name of the items you like.

Purchasing an Available Item
Under the design name you will see "item available" or "item not available" -- this tells you whether you can buy the exact item pictured. If you would like to buy an available item, send an e-mail with the subject line "purchase" to 2the9s.shop@gmail.com. In the e-mail, list the name of the item(s) you would like to buy and we can arrange a pick-up time and date. If you need an item shipped to you, include in your e-mail where you are located as well as the item(s) you would like to buy. I will then send you the shipping cost as well as payment options. You are not obligated to buy until you agree to the shipping cost.

Purchasing a Design
Above each item, you will see listed the "design cost". This is the base cost of that particular design. In other words, this is the cost of sewing the applique onto a clothing item that you bring (or ship) to me. I run the shop this way to try to make it as inexpensive as possible for you. If you are interested in bringing items to me, send an e-mail with the subject line "design order" to 2the9s.shop@gmail.com.

However, I am more than happy to pick up a clothing item for you and then sew on the applique. This is an easy way avoid two shipping cost (i.e. the cost of you shipping an item to me and then me shipping your completed item back). When orders are placed this way I will simply add the cost of the clothing item and a minimal fee for my time to the design cost to create your final price. If you wish to order this way, send an e-mail with the subject line "custom order" to 2the9s.shop@gmail.com and I will send you an order form. After you have filled out the order form I can give you a price bid for your item(s). You are under no obligation to buy until after you have accepted the cost of your item(s).

Note for out of area customers: I shipped out two orders this past week and discovered that shipping costs within the United States will usually be $6. It may even be less for smaller items.
